Our National Anthem - The Book

As part of the initiative to encourage participation in our national anthem, Learn Our Anthem.ie  has produced a book, 'Our National Anthem', which is an engaging and educational tool for children to learn about Irish heritage and also encourage the discovery of our national anthem 'Amhrán na bhFiann'.

It encourages children to learn the anthem easily and also accommodates non-Irish speakers of all backgrounds, by providing a phonetic version.

We also produce a version as Gaeilge.

It aims to teach children about the many aspects of and heroes in Irish culture, seeking to instil a sense of love for Ireland, it's history and it's people.

About the book...

Inspired by an outing to a stadium - where she realised that she (and those around her) didn’t know the words past the second line of ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’, Rachel J. Cooper was inspired by what a book could possibly do to help.

She wanted to start a nationwide initiative to help introduce the Irish national anthem to children and encourage them to learn it.

It has become well known in Irish popular culture that many of us don't know our national anthem.

Our initiative aims to encourage a change for the next generation.

It also contains the phonetic and Irish translations so all can join in.

A simple, easy way for children (and their parents) to learn the anthem for life.

Also contains phonetic version of the National Anthem for parents and grandparents to sing along.

38 Pages including games, quizzes, WordSearch and more.

About The Initiative...

It's well acknowledged that very few of us know our anthem past the first few lines.

The aim of this initiative is to encourage children and their parents to learn
'Amhrán na bhFiann'  for life. The focus is to make its meaning more applicable for today's society and to bring it to the attention of all people living in Ireland from ALL backgrounds

The Soldier's Song / 'Amhrán na bhFiann'

Yes, we are all soldiers - but what we are fighting for today is different.

Today
we fight for things like fairness, equality  and against things that we know are wrong.

GAA President, Larry McCarthy

“Our anthem is a part of who we are. Amhrán na bhFiann is an integral part of a GAA match day and it is a special occasion when sung by a packed crowd at a game. Promoting an understanding of and appreciation and respect for our anthem is extremely important and is greatly appreciated.”
